friday we ate and then layed out on the terraza for an hour. we were super hot so mary called luis and asked if we could go in his pool and he said yes so we went over there for another hour and a half. i definitely got a little color then and i am so glad i put sunscreen on my face before. after that we showered and got ready and around 9 we went to the same bar we went to on monday night, va de li or something like that. all the same waitors and cooks and manager were there so it was a lot of fun. we had a few drinks there and then left to go to buddha. we had those vip passes to get in free and drink for free and javier, the student coordinator at cepe was also there. it really wasnt much fun though because it was sooo crowded and everyone was just standing around, no one was dancing or anything. soo we ended up calling it a night at 1 in the morning, which i am pretty sure was the earliest yet. it was soooo funny when we got back though. cause when we left elba and heron had been at the airport picking up hugo (sooo glad hes back!!!) and so at 1 15 or whenever we got back elba had woken up to go to the bathroom so she heard us whispering in the kitchen when we were getting water so she comes out and is like quieres quesadillas??? quieres algo para comer??? and we kept saying no no go back to bed we are really sorry if we woke you up and she was soo persistent so finally we sit down and she makes like seriously 20 quesadillas. it was the funniest thing ever!! sooo then we went up on the terraza for a minute to get some air and cool down cause we kept laughing with elba and luis´s mom was outside and she saw us so she goes quieres nadar?? which is do you want to go for a swim?? so we laugh a bunch more and finally go to bed at 2.
saturday we got up at 745 so we could get ready and get to the bus station to go to chapala, which is a town about an hour away. lake chapala is the biggest lake in mexico. soo we get the bus numbers just to get to the bus station, end up getting lost and still having to take a cab (every time we try and save money and take the public buses it never ever works) but anyways we got to centro viejo and bought a ticket to get to chapala, we bought 2nd class which means there are a lot of stops but it still only took about an hour and fifteen minutes. the ticket was 2.80 each way, so not bad. we walked around chapala, went out on the pier where there is an old light house. the lake is actually pretty ugly, its really shallow and they have a lot of algi kinda stuff, you cant swim in it or anything. but we walked around all the little shoppin stall things, it was kinda like a flea market. i bought a shot glass thats all. it was a lot of jewelry but nothing too spectacular. after that we went to a restaurant. the food was really good, i had 2 enchiladas, 2 tacos, a chile relleno, and rice. and the strongest margarita of my life! katie and i both got them cause they were only 20 pesos, omg it was straight tequila im pretty sure. one thing about chapala is that is a very touristy town where a lot of retired people from the us and canada come to live, so everything is in english. the menu was in english, the signs said no smoking, not no permite fumar. it was kinda annoying cause we want to learn spanish. but oh well now we can say we have been to the largest lake in mexico! we caught the bus back to guadalajara at 2 or so. we all slept on the way home! we got back and mary is sick so she wanted to go back to our apartment so we got a taxi there. we drove past the downtown area where there was a huge gay festival. guadalajara is the gay capital of mexico, like san diego in the us. soo that was pretty interesting. they had a parade and everything. when we got back we ate again and took a nap i think, i dont remember. mary went with luis on a date so katie and i got ready and met our friend kazuma at a bar downtown. it was all old people for a while but then a bunch of kazumas friends came and it was a lot of fun. i talked to 2 of his mexican friends the whole time and we spoke completely in spanish, except he was teaching me a tongue twister in spanish so i taught him one in english, but otherwise we spoke spanish completely. actually since like 6 katie and i spoke to eachother only in english. we talked with hugo about his trip for like an hour and a half in spanish and that was really fun too. he is a super nice guy. so yeah at like midnight mary and luis met us there and we left with them to go to the club bose, we went there 2 weekends ago. it was fun, really crowded but good. we left at like 2 because both mary and luis are sick.
sunday we slept until noon and got up and ate and just basically hung around. mary and i worked on our homework forever until getting really frustrated and going over to luis´s. he read the article and summarized it for us, or explained it. that helped a lot and then we were able to actually write our papers on it. i took a nap then and mary went to luis´s again so i just worked on homework more and talked with elba and heron and hugo when they got back from visiting family.
today i am not feeling so hot and i am a little mad because i gave mary some of my day quil one day last week, well i didnt really monitor my med and she took it all except 1 pill! so today i feel like shit and i have nothing to take! we tried looking at a farmacia last week when katie was sick and they have really basic meds and we have no idea which is which. when we were there no one spoke english so yeah. i am basically screwed and very not happy. i cant believe she took all of it without telling me or doing anything about it. pretty sure offering it once doesnt give someone full reign to take it all. i told her today that i brought all my drugs with me cause if someone gets sick i will get sick and i need my certain meds and shes just like oh... i know she doesnt care but whatever. should be absolutely fantastic.
soo this week we are going to try and get to the zoo (so excited for my monkey statues) and possibly salsa dancing on thursday again. its one girls birthday tomorrow so they are going out but thats very much up in the air for me. tonight we are supposed to go visit our friends at the bar by our house but mary and i already decided that isnt happening for either of us. so who knows. im almost halfway done here and looking forward to coming home. we spend so much time talking about the food we miss. friday night the cook at that bar made us four cheese pizza and that was the first pizza i have had since in mexico. yesterday we went to oxxo and got ice cream, that was a first too. the food elba makes is good but absolutely everything is fresh. the only thing they have in their freezer is meat and the only real processed or artificial food they serve is cereal. i am going crazy!!! eating a frozen pizza would be soo satisfying right now!! and some normal shredded cheese. their cheese here is absolutely disgusting. not as much milk and not pausterized. oh well i am surviving!! (and losing weight :( )
